I love to read and am sure I can come up with a read, we could meet fortnightly, we would need to find a quiet pub somewhere we could go and discuss the book... If your interested great let me know or join up. Depending on numbers we could do a 1 pound per meeting, obviously there is a book cost involved but am sure we could source cheaply from somewhere..
I set this up as I need more motivation to read regularly !! If you are reading this, you probably do too !! Plus I would like to meet other readers to chat about the last book read - and what better place than in one of Henley's fine venues over a glass of something ! I see myself as the club founder not the leader, so choosing the book and the venue rotates across us all ... For the moment we feel we have enough members, as a Book Club can only be so big, as since setting this up in Jan 2011 …
There are few book groups in the area but they seem to be quite spiritual and intellectual. This club is a chance for like minded people to meet and discuss any topic of book we like. Every month, the group will decide on which book to read and we will meet once a month to discuss what we thought.
Although called Caversham Critics, this book group is open to all friendly Reading based fiction lovers. We shall explore old and modern classics, contemporary fiction, and perhaps even pretend to be judges by comparing our notes on the shortlists for the big literary prizes. We aim to meet monthly in a pub in central Reading. We are just getting started, so if the club sounds like your cup of tea, don't hesitate, join and spread the word!
Meet kindred book lovers at the Oxford Book Club meetup! This a friendly club, going strong, always open to new members. We have regular polls to select a book, and then meet (monthly) to express love, hatred or indifference! If you're interested, feel free to come and check out the next one.
We recently moved to Maidenhead and I miss my old book group. Ironically now I have a longer commute I have more time to actually read! If you would like to join an evening book group which would encourage you to read something you might otherwise not have picked up, but which isn't too high-brow, then please get in touch. I am female, middle aged (ahem) with a young family but obviously you don't have to be the same, it just gives you an idea !

We have been studying Napoleon Hill's book Think and Grow Rich for a year and realised that it would be great to mastermind with more like-minded people. The purpose of the group is to gain an in-depth understanding of the methods that are detailed in the book. As a group we decide what to read each week and come to the meeting to discuss and expand our knowledge using study notes. The meeting usually lasts 1.5 hours. This group would suit anyone who enjoys personal growth especially those who a …

In the past few years, my personal love and appreciation for a top quality curry has grown a little out of control. Therefore, rather than attempt to tame this particular desire, I thought 2011 would represent a great opportunity to pull a together a group of people from Reading and the surrounding area and attempt to work our way through the local offerings. On a serious note, aside from sharing our opinions on the culinary delights that await us, I am hoping this will be a good chance to meet …

The Teaching of G.I.Gurdjieff begins with the striking proposition that man, as he is, is asleep.... and that is it possible to wake up. His chief difficulty, says Gurdjieff, is that he already believes he is fully awake. By means of inner work, moments of a different quality can be experienced and gradually it becomes possible to verify for oneself the big ideas contained in this Teaching (sometimes referred to as 'The Work'). It is an oral teaching, given and received within a group. Above al …

Mainly a social group for those with an artistic or cultural bent, we generally meet monthly for a social event of drinks and dinner in the Windsor area, perhaps combined with a cultural or art event; though don't worry about the meetings being too high-brow, they're not. Join us and meet others who are interested in sharing all things social and cultural. The idea is to meet socially with other like-minded folk in a range of different venues in and around Windsor conducive to relaxed convers …
I am a regular trekker and traveller to India and I decided to start this group to organise group excursions to the Himalayas and explore the amazing Valley of Flowers National Park. Valley of Flowers is a fairy-land situated high in the Himalayas of the Uttaranchal, at an altitude of 3,600 meters above the sea-level, protected by snowy mountains. Unknown to humans, for centuries this enchanting valley lay frozen during the colder months, and burst into its youthful beauty every year, as the sno …
